SIL & OUTREACH
MBS Residence initially focused on mature adults living with their families who would be at risk of institutionalization when their parents and caregivers passed away. The Outreach Program was able to bridge that gap, bringing such individuals into the community with one-on-one visits, brief excursions for shopping or coffee, services as needed, and in this way gradually introducing community participation and trust.
Over the years, the program has evolved to include all age groups, some living with their families, and others that require support as they strike out on their own (SIL).
We provide needed support and services to people in the community who are living in their family home, or in their own apartment.
Assistance with grocery shopping, banking, medical visits, recreation, or other identified needs is available.
Transition and Continuity
Regular contact fosters trust and encourages our individuals to bring up life challenges as they arise, giving us the opportunity to guide and assist them before crisis. Due to aging, increasing disabilities or loss of parental support, at some time individuals may require more comprehensive services, such as offered in our Residential Program. Relationships already developed with our workers makes this potentially traumatic life transition easier.
